3/2 National Read Across America Day – Falls on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. It is a campaign to help celebrate reading across America. 3/3 On National Anthem Day the U.S.A. adopted “The Star Spangled Banner” as our national anthem. Francis Scott Key, the author served in the army during the War of 1812. After a long night of battle during the war, he penned the lyrics to the song. Do you know how many verses make up the Star Spangled Banner? It’s FOUR! I had no idea! 3/6 Although unknown in origin, March 6th is National Oreo Day, do we really need a reason to celebrate Oreos? What is your favorite flavor? We, at Kangaroo Kids also use the Oreo cookie as a reminder of positive communications! Always start and end with the positive just like the top and bottom of an oreo! 3/14 National Pi Day is on March 14th! What do you know about Pi, not to be confused with Pie!
3/14 Who can name the four parts of a butterfly’s life cycle? On Learn About Butterflies Day, it’s a great day to begin this study! (The answer is egg, larva, pupa and adult!). 3/17 St. Patrick’s Day is held in observance of the death of St. Patrick the Patron saint of Ireland! “May the wind always be at your back and the sun shine warmly on your face.” Here are some fun activities 7 Fun St Patrick’s Day Activities for Kids – Kid Activities. 3/20 It’s National Ravioli Day! What is your favorite ravioli filling? Meat, lobster, cheese???

3/31: National Manatee Appreciation Day Sea cows are considered large and graceful. These herbivores have been on the endangered species list since 1967
